Redirect. Intentionally change focus and here are a few ways how
Anxiety controls the breath so use your breath to control the anxiety. I’m sure you’ve heard meditate in response to anxiety until it gets really old. The thing is, it works because it’s a brain hack. Anxiety increases respiration so to slow down the anxious feelings slow down the breath. Level 2 is creating a meditation practice. Body scans are great for bringing focus into the body and to stop tensing those muscles
Sweating will help release all those chemicals that going through the body. It’s also something that you can DO rather than staying in the feeling of spinning those wheels, take those wheels for a spin. The post exercise endorphins help the mind and body regulate as an added bonus.
Art/Colouring/Music/Dance help us move out of overthinking. Fun is always a good counterbalance to anxiety as well
Write it out, journal. A great question to ask anxiety when it comes to visit and starts yaking is “is this true?” Another good journal prompt is writing out your capabilities and resources available to you to handle what’s going on.
Find something funny. Cats on YouTube, stand up, whatever makes you LoL, will also help lesson the tension in your mind and body. Aslo endorphins!
What about this anxiety situation is in your control. Feeling you have some sort of control over the situation will deescalate the emotional charge behind it.
Give me a heart if this was helpful to you and follow for more ways to navigate anxiety. If anxiety is preventing you from living the life you want and you are so sick of it AND you’re ready to work on working past it… Give me a DM or book a call in the link in my bio. It’s your life not anxiety’s
